Minnesota state law, Chapter 156 of the Session Laws of 2005, requires that "a city or county with a population of more than 15,000 must annually notify its residents of the positions and base salaries of its three highest-paid employees."  For the City of Cottage Grove, titles and salaries as of Jan. 1, 2008 are:  City Administrator - $114,480.00, Finance and Administrative Services Director - $104,586.00, and Public Safety Director - $100,612.00.

Cottage Grove is a vibrant community of 34,000 residents with a growing manufacturing and retail economy. We are located approximately eight miles southeast of Minnesota's "Twin Cities" of St. Paul and Minneapolis right off of US 61.

Settled in the 1840's with the creation of the Langdon and "Old Cottage Grove" villages, Cottage Grove is now one of the fastest-growing communities in Minnesota. At the beginning of a new millennium, Cottage Grove is facing a bright future.

"Ask the City" Debuts

The City is pleased to announce that it has launched a new online request and frequently asked questions system. This new system will allow residents to find answers to frequently asked questions ranging from inquiries about building permits to questions about the fire department. It would also allow residents to submit questions to City staff if the answers are not already available in the system.   Try out this system by following this link, or by clicking on the blue "Ask The City" box in the upper left corner of the home page.
