Take a Child Fishing Day

The Cottage Grove Parks and Recreation Department, MinnAqua, and the DNR have stocked Hidden Valley Pond for another great fishing season.  This on-day event, sponsored by all 3 organizations, is open to anyone interested in fishing or wanting to learn more about fish. 

There will be booths set up that will be demonstrating the different skills for fishing, including fish identification, baiting, fish handling, casting and others.  All necessary equipment for fishing will be provided including poles and bait.  Volunteers will be along the shoreline to help with baiting, casting, catching and releasing fish throughout the day.  Youth ages 16 and younger will not need a fishing license to fish during this one-day event.  Complimentary lunch will be provided for the first 200 participants.
