Building Inspector

Building Inspector: This position sustains the knowledge necessary to address and ensure compliance and enforcement of State and Local building construction codes, laws, ordinances, standards and rules.

  • Salary: $26.61 - $30.74 per hour, depending on qualifications

Part-time Office Assistant II - Ice Arena

Part-time Office Assistant II - Ice Arena: This part-time position performs basic office duties including data entry, answering phones, scheduling facilities and providing customer service.  Hours may vary slightly but the regularly scheduled hours are 8 am to noon, Monday through Friday. Part-time Building Supervisor

Ice Arena Building Supervisor: This part-time position is responsible for the security of the building, cash, and all of the arena equipment; resurfacing the ice, and maintaining the cleanliness of the building.  Scheduled shifts include evenings and weekends.  This position requires indoor and outdoor work, under all types of weather conditions.

  • Position is part-time, seasonal from September to March
  • Salary: $10.50 per hour

Minimum requirements:

  • 18 years of age
  • Valid driver's license
  • Flexible schedule including (evenings and weekends)
  • Ability to manage cash flow
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to walk on the ice surface
  • Self-motivated and a hard working individual
  • Ability to provide high quality customer service
  • Willingness to clean throughout the work day

Desired qualifications:

  • Previous experience and knowledge of equipment and repairs
  • Previous experience sharpening skates

Seasonal (6-mo) Utilities Maintenance Worker

Seasonal Playground Leaders

The City of Cottage Grove is accepting applications for summer seasonal (June 8 to Sept. 4) Playground Leader positions.  Playground leader positions are responsible for programming, planning and supervising activities for youth ages 5–13 years old.  Activities include things such as arts and crafts, games, and special events.  

  • Application deadline: April 24 at 4:30 p.m.
  • Interviews: May 8
  • Training dates: June 2 and 3
  • Work dates: June 8 to Sept. 4
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Salary: $9 to $10 per hour
  • Qualifications: Applicants must be a minimum age of 18.  Must be able to work well with children, possess good leadership skills and have a broad knowledge of games, sports and crafts skills. Experience in a recreation leadership position preferred.

Landscape/Horticulture Internship

The City of Cottage Grove seeks highly motivated and hard working individuals to apply for this Landscape/Horticulture internship position.  The interns will work directly with the Parks Department to manage a $30,000+ operational budget of personnel, material and professional service needs. 

  • Position is full-time, seasonal from mid-May to late-August
    Monday to Thursday, 6:30 am to 3:30 pm, Friday 6:30 to 10 am
  • Salary: $11 per hour
