Economic Development Overview
The Economic Development Department of Cottage Grove is responsible for attracting new businesses to the community,
retaining existing businesses, assisting businesses with expansion, and enabling the rehabilitation and/or
redevelopment of areas within the community.
The Economic Development Authority (EDA) is the official
decision-making body when it comes to economic development. EDA members include elected City officials, local
citizens and business representatives.
The ED department relies on input and support from the City's
Planning Commission. This commission also plays a critical role in advising
the Economic Development Authority on all matters relating to the economic development of the community.

Report each year, which outlines the year's economic development highlights.
Award-Winning Marketing Campaign
For the past several years, the Economic Development department has produced an award-winning marketing program
of postcards, brochures and other vehicles to promote development opportunities in Cottage Grove. Most of
the marketing collateral features various Economic Development staff in black-tie attire with a message of high-quality,
professional service to members of the development community. In 2002 and 2003, the Economic Development
Association of Minnesota (www.edam.org) honored Cottage Grove
with the "Best Marketing Campaign" award.
Development Opportunities
The City of Cottage Grove offers many development
opportunities both on an immediate and longer-term basis. Among these are properties that are available
