Henry House immigrated to Minnesota Territory from upstate New York in 1853 and built this
modest cottage in 1854 alongside the government road from Pt. Douglas to St. Paul. Although the second story of the
historic residence was destroyed by fire in 1947, enough of the original Greek Revival style structure survives to
provide a physical record of the experience of New England immigrants in Cottage Grove.
