Lamar Avenue Larch Trees
Off Lamar Ave. near Woodbury city line
The two stands of over-mature European larch trees are important because they represent a rare
surviving example of 19th century vernacular landscape architecture. Planted from seeds by pioneer Robert Watson
in circa 1860 to frame the view of his Evergreen Hill farm, the tree rows exemplify the romantic and picturesque
principles of rural landscape design espoused by Andrew Jackson Downing and others.
