Military Road
Lehigh Rd., Lamar Ave. and Military Rd.
This historic transportation corridor preserves the route of the Military Road from Pt. Douglas
to Ft. Ripley laid out under the direction of Lt. James H. Simpson, U.S. Army Topographical Engineers, in 1851-1855.
In the early 1900’s, Military Road was one of the first State Aid rural highways in Washington County and an
important milk route for local farmers.
