Old Cottage Grove Village
Lamar Ave. between 70th St. and 80th St.

Surrounded by farm fields and sheltered by groves of oak trees, Old Cottage Grove comprises more than sixty buildings constructed between the 1850's and the 1940's, which together form a cohesive historic streetscape that reflects the community's richly textured cultural history. Settled around 1850 by pioneers from New England, the settlement was formally platted as an unincorporated village by John P. Furber in 1871 and flourished as a farm trade center for almost a century.
