Farmer Harry Roberts, a 48-year-old bachelor, married 44-year-old Pearle in 1928 and built her a new house on the stone foundation of the circa 1870's Roberts farmhouse. This well-preserved vernacular FourSquare style cottage reflects Cottage Grove's agricultural heritage and the popularity of the "Corn Belt Cube" form.
