Watson House
8919 - 70th St.
The brothers Robert and William Watson immigrated to this site on the edge of the Cottage Grove
prairie in 1850 and their younger brother John is believed to have built the two-story core of this house sometime
around 1870. It shows the influence of the Italian Villa style, a Romantic Period cottage mode popularized in the
pattern books of Andrew Jackson Downing, Calvert Vaux, and others.
