Planning Division
The Planning Division is responsible for coordinating the review and approval of development and
re-development proposals. Other responsibilities include preparing, updating, and implementing the City's
Comprehensive Plan, the Trailway plan, The Park Master Plan and other long-range and facility planning documents.
Zoning administration includes preparing and updating zoning, subdivision, sign, floodplain, mining, and other
City ordinances related to planning and zoning. These official controls assist in the implementation of the City's
long-range planning objectives, and to protect the health, safety and welfare of the community. Enforcement of the
Zoning and other related City Ordinance criteria is coordinated with the Building Division and Public
Safety Department.
The Planning staff serves as a liaison between the City Council and
the Parks Commission and Planning
Commission, which are two of the citizen advisory bodies to the City Council. This Planning Commission
has a membership of nine citizens that are appointed to three-year terms. They meet on the fourth Monday of
each month at 7:00 p.m. The Parks Commission has seven members and meets on the second monday of the month at
7:00 p.m. Commission Applications are accepted on a continual basis and seats are filled as they become vacant.
