Cottage Grove Fire Department

Welcome to the Cottage Grove Fire Department. We are excited to be able to share our department with you. Our department is known as one of the most innovative and respected in the State of Minnesota. We are committed to providing the citizens of Cottage Grove and all who visit our city with the Cottage Grove Fire Department highest quality of service possible.

Cottage Grove Fire Department is a combination department comprised of a full-time Chief, Fire Marshal and an EMS Coordinator Firefighter/Paramedic, one part-time secretary, 55 part-time on call firefighters, and 5 EMT daytime on-call responders. In addition to traditional emergency services, we are proud to provide the community with CPR and 1st Aid training, Fire Extinguisher training, Fire Safety Awareness, Commercial Fire Inspections and a very active Fire Explorer program. The City Emergency Management Division is also operated out of the fire department.

Fire Dept. Values

The values of the Cottage Grove Fire Department are reflected in the department’s motto, which is "non sibi, sed omnibus". This is a Latin saying which means "not for self but for all". The department exists to serve the community not only through response to emergency situations but through education, prevention and non-emergency services. The Department has an extensive public education program for citizens from pre-school through adult.
