Supervised Playgrounds 2008

Summer 2008 is going to be the best summer yet with the Rec. Dept. Be sure to schedule your summer plans soon so that you don’t miss out on the fun. Each day will include hanging out and playing with others their age while playing games, making arts and crafts, and being involved in other special events. Special events include, but are not limited to, an annual carnival, creating a play or skit, trip to the outdoor pool, and other activities that revolve around the Recreation Department’s weekly themes. Each park site has 2 staff that are responsible for scheduling the daily activities; although participants are strongly encouraged to participate, they don’t have to.

Parents/Guardians must sign in and out each day the participant is registered. Youth may sign themselves in and out if they choose to bike or walk to the program. Rec. staff should be notified if this is the case. Youth must bring their own lunch and snacks each day. Each park building does have a refrigerator and microwave to be used for lunches. Please avoid sending any snacks or lunches that contain peanuts or peanut butter due to allergies. We also strongly encourage each child to bring their own water bottle each day. This program will not be cancelled due to hot weather; we will however adapt all activities.

All youth must be able to use the restrooms on their own. If your child does have an accident, you will be notified and required to pick them up or bring a change of clothes within 30 minutes. No exceptions. Summer Playground Staff have received several hours of training which include basic first aid, emergency procedures, insight on planning events for youth, and passed a Criminal History Background Check. We anticipate each youth will have a great summer with the Cottage Grove Recreation Dept., however if there are continuing discipline problems you will be notified immediately. Please contact us in advance to discuss any defining characteristics of your child so that we may serve them better.

Registration/Payment: Please read carefully, there are changes to the registration and payment process from last year. Participants may register by day ($15) or by week ($60). Payment is due at the time of registration. You may register for all of your summer programs at once and agree to weekly auto-pay for the fees due that week. Registration and payment will not be accepted at the park this summer; all payments must be made through the office. Due to the mass quantity of registration changes last year; there will be no refunds given after 12:00 p.m. the preceding Friday. Participants may register for the program at any time - however registration is limited to 25 participants per site. This program may qualify as a dependent care expense if it is used as daycare, see IRS publication 503 or contact your tax advisor. Registration begins March 3rd, 2008
