  • 150 miles of water main
  • 110 miles of sanitary sewer main
  • 1,400 fire hydrants
  • 2,000 gate valves
  • 9,400 customer service connections
  • 1 booster station Booster Pump
  • 1 lift station
  • 10 municipal wells with a pumping capacity of 13.7 million gallons per day
  • 6 water storage facilities with storage capacity of 7,150,000 gallons

Streetlights
The City of Cottage Grove owns, operates and repairs 2,050 city streetlights. In addition to the city streetlights, the Public Works streetlights division also repairs 325 non-city streetlights owned by XCEL Energy, as necessary. The streetlights division is also in the process of continually replacing older city streetlights that have deteriorated over the years. To report a burned out streetlight, please contact the Public Works Department.

Is there a street light out in your neighborhood? Go to the City's Citizen Action Center to fill out a street light maintenance request.

Shovel Fire Hydrants
The Fire Department and Utilities Division asks residents to shovel out fire hydrants near their homes. Keeping hydrants clear of snow substantially reduces the time it takes firefighters to get into service to put out a fire.

Well Pump #11 Water Quality: Improvements
The Cottage Grove Water Utility is continuously maintaining and upgrading the infrastructure required to bring the residents and businesses of the City a safe and abundant supply of water. The Highland elevated storage tank has a new look, with new paint and City logo. To help improve our pumping capacity, a new well is being built off of 70th Street and Idsen Avenue. The new well will be in service in the spring of 2005.
