2017 Historic Preservationist of the Year
City Council proclaimed Brent Peterson, Executive Director of the Washington County Historical Society, as the 2017 Historic Preservationist of the Year for the City of Cottage Grove for his efforts to document, preserve, and share the history of Cottage Grove, Washington County, and surrounding communities.

Single Occasion Gambling Permit – Cottage Grove Lions

Water Tower Lease Agreement Terminations

Long Grass and Weed Ordinance Amendment
City Council passed an ordinance modifying the City Code, shortening the length of time to abate long grass and weeds from ten (10) days to five (5).

Accessory Structure Front Setback Variance at 9744 Kimbro Avenue South
City Council adopted a resolution approving a variance to the City Code, Accessory Structure Setbacks and City Code, Miscellaneous Requirements, to allow the proposed 2.500 square foot accessory structure to be approximately 270 feet closer to Kimbro Avenue than the proposed residential structure at 9744 Kimbro Avenue South.

Cub Foods Fireworks Interim Conditional Use Permit
City Council adopted a resolution approving an interim conditional use permit allowing one temporary structure (tent) of up to 30-feet by 50-feet in size to be placed in the southwest corner of the property located at 8690 East Point Douglas Road.

Grant Application for HERO Center Construction and 2018 Capital Bonding Process
City Council adopted a resolution approving submittal of documentation to the State of Minnesota for the 2018 Capital Bonding process for construction of the HERO Center, and approving and verifying that neither the City of Cottage Grove nor the City of Woodbury are submitting another project in the 2018 Capital Bonding process.

Liquor Compliance Check Violation – Underage Sale
City Council imposed the scheduled penalty for the Eagles Bar and Grill’s 1st violation in a 24 month period of a $500.00 fine and the participation of employees in an educational program approved by the Public Safety Director.

City Council authorized the 2017 Strawberry Fest events on public property contingent on compliance with staff recommendations.

Concept Plan – Amundson Property
City Council opened the floor for new public comments on the revised concept plan and provided direction to the applicant on the revised concept plan.  Seven people spoke during the public input session.  

City Council adopted a resolution by a vote of 3-2 approving the concept for the phased platting of 132 lots for detached single-family homes on three parcels of land totaling 64.7 acres as a planned development overlay.
