Parks Puzzler Contest Encourages Visits to Cottage Grove Parks
Cottage Grove, Minn. – July 5, 2017 – In honor of National Parks and Recreation Month, Cottage Grove is hosting its first “Parks Puzzler” social media contest beginning July 17. Every day at 8:30 a.m. a riddle about one of the city’s 34 parks will be posted to the Cottage Grove Recreation and Ice Arena Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/CGParksandRec.

Residents can use their wit and knowledge to solve the riddle and determine what park is being described. Once they know the answer, they need to visit the park, get a photo of themself in the park with the park sign, post it to social media and tag the photo with the Cottage Grove Recreation and Ice Arena on Facebook, or @cottagegrovemn on Twitter or Instagram.  Every photo submitted and tagged counts as an entry into the drawing; the more entries the more chances to win.

The winner can choose from:
•    An ice skating party package for eight at the Ice Arena, includes skate rental and public skating ($80 value);
•    Two rounds of golf plus cart at River Oaks Golf Course ($100 value);
•    Four-hour park building rental ($60 value); or
•    Picnic in the park, includes a catered deli sandwich lunch for six at the winner’s favorite park ($60 value)

 “We want to encourage people to get outside and enjoy the city parks and trails,” said Zac Dockter, Parks and Recreation Director. “I hope people have fun and discover a park, or learn something new about their favorite park.”

The contest runs from July 17 to Aug. 25 with three winners will be drawn at random and announced on Sept. 1.
