Firefighter/EMT & Firefighter/Paramedic, P/T

Part-time Firefighter/EMTs and part-time Firefighter/Paramedics must live within 20 minutes of the City of Cottage Grove.

The fire department is a combination of full-time and part-time personnel that operate 24/7. Part-time staff bid to work thirty-six hours a month of duty crew and attend six hours of EMS/Fire training per month.

The fire department is looking for personnel with experience in firefighting and/or EMS, but we are willing to training the right people.

Cook -Eagles/River Oaks

The part-time cook positions at River Oaks Golf Course include days, nights and weekends and require excellent customer service and presentation of food and beverages in the Clubhouse. This position is responsible for the preparation of all food menu and specialty items within the Clubhouse.

  • Starting Pay:  $13 to $15 per hour, plus tips for banquet events

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepare all menu and specialty items according to standard recipes and processes.
  • Maintain kitchen and prep area in a sanitary and organized fashion.
  • Responsible for keeping food products up to River Oaks standards.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for bar set-up
  • Maintain and operate the bar area
  • Take drink and food orders
  • Wait on patrons and wait staff members

  • Enter orders in cash register, collects payment, and makes change.

The part-time dishwasher positions at River Oaks Golf Course is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for plates, cups, glassware, tableware, utensils, etc., using machine and manual cleaning methods. This position also ensures the dishwashing area is maintained as a clean, safe and sanitary facility.

  • Sort and rinse dirty dishes, glass, tableware and other utensils and place them in racks to send through dish washer

  • Set up or break down dishwashing area.

City of Cottage Grove Seasonal Full- & Part-time Job Opportunities


Building Supervisor-Ice Arena, P/T

The seasonal, part-time Building Supervisor with the Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for the security of the building, cash, and all of the arena equipment; also resurfacing the ice and maintaining the cleanliness of the building.  Scheduled shifts include evenings and weekends. Summer hours primarily will be Tuesdays evenings and rotating weekends. Winter hours will increase and days will vary. This position requires indoor and outdoor work, under all types of weather conditions.

  • Starting Pay: $11 per hour

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Supervise all operations of the building
    • Supervise all part-time staff: Maintenance and office staff
    • Manage daily ice schedules and locker room schedules
    • Troubleshoot building/equipment problems
    • Administer minor first-aid and complete Accident Reports
    • Enforce Ice Arena policy
    • Open and close the building for public use
    • Supervisor is primary contact between facility and customers
  • Maintain ice via resurfacing machine, edging and patching to assure a quality sheet of ice for customers
  • Maintain a safe, clean and well-kept building at all times
  • Perform some equipment/building repair
  • Sell product/ service to the public
  • Perform some office and administrative duties
  • Provide quality customer service to patrons
  • Perform all other duties as requested by Full Time Staff

Minimum qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Flexible schedule including (evenings and weekends)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to manage cash flow
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk, hear and write
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • The employee may occasionally climb a ladder, operate a lift, and operate a vehicle with multiple hand and foot operations

Playground Leaders

The Playground Leader positions will be responsible for programming, planning and supervising activities for youth ages 5-13 years old. Activities include arts and crafts, games, special events, and many other fun things.  Leaders will be assigned to work 40 hours per week.  All applicants must be a minimum age of 18.  Experience in a recreation leadership position is preferable.  Leaders should have broad knowledge of games, sports, and craft skills.  Must be able to work well with children and should possess good leadership skills.
