Open House: Transitway Small Area Planning
The cities of Cottage Grove and St. Paul Park will be working with Washington County throughout 2017 to develop small area plans for their proposed Red Rock Corridor station areas.
To do that, the cities announced open houses for the members of the public to learn about the project and how they may participate in planning it. The open houses are:
• Cottage Grove Open House, 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, at Park Grove Library, 7900 Hemingway Ave. S, Cottage Grove; and
• St. Paul Park Open House, 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, St. Paul Park City Hall, 600 Portland Ave, St Paul Park.
The plans will look at land use, economic development, and redevelopment opportunities in each area to make them more transit friendly. The goal of this project is to create strategies to support each community's vision for the future, while working to grow transit service in the southeast metro area. Everyone is encouraged to attend the open houses, and free snow cones will be served.
About the Red Rock Corridor Transit Project
Red Rock Southeast Corridor is a proposed 20-mile bus rapid transit route, connecting the Twin Cities’ southeastern suburbs to Saint Paul. The transitway will originate in Hastings and stop at several locations in the southeast metro area before connecting to Union Depot in St. Paul. Riders may access many destinations from the Union Depot using other transit service, such as express buses, local buses, and METRO Green Line.
