November 1 through March 31, the Cottage Grove Winter Parking Ban is in effect.
To facilitate plowing, parking on city streets is banned between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. from November 1 through March 31.
City ordinance No. 6-2-1 also prohibits on-street parking anytime there is a snowfall event, until after the street has been completely plowed. This applies to any hour of the day, any time of the year. This allows the snowplow drivers to work safely and efficiently during the storm.
Vehicles must be removed from Cottage Grove streets between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. daily. During a snow event vehicles will not be permitted to park on the streets at any time of the day to allow plows to clear the streets. Vehicles parked on the street during this time will be towed at the owners expense (see ordinance 6-2-1).
Residents and businesses are not permitted to plow and/or blow snow into/or across City streets ( Sdsds ... . (see ordinance 7-1-3).
Residents are required to maintain mailbox standards to prevent mailbox damage during snowplowing (see mailbox standards). If your mailbox is compliant with the standards and still was knocked over by a City snowplow please call Public Works at 651-458-2808 to report it.
Occasionally snowplowing may cause damage to the sod located on the right-of-way. If the plow has torn the grass on your right-of-way please contact Public Works to report the damage at 651-458-2808. The City does not replace damage to the boulevard caused by salt or sand damage. Only damage from City snowplows.
The Public Works Streets division will begin snow removal when there is two inches or more of accumulated snow in the City and at the discretion of the Public Works Director. The process of snow removal from City streets, walking trails and sidewalks takes anywhere from six to eight hours to complete to ensure city residents safe traveling conditions.
All of the Public Works divisions including Utilities, Parks Maintenance and Fleet Maintenance assist the Streets division in snow removal to ensure the quickest and safest snow removal for the City’s residents.
